Propoxyphene action is reported to be modified in presence of CYP3A4 inhibitors and inducers, which includes:

• Ritonavir
• Ketoconazole
• Itraconazole
• Troleandomycin
• Clarithromycin
• Nelfinavir
• Nefazadone
• Amiodarone
• Amprenavir
• Aprepitant
• Diltiazem
• erythromycin
• Fluconazole
• Fosamprenavir
• Grapefruit juice

• Rifampin

Darvocet should not be prescribed in patients with hypersensitivity to its components like Propoxyphene and Acetaminophen. Darvocet contraindication includes patients with respiratory issues like Asthma as well as in patients suffering from paralyticileus.

Use of Darvocet with alcohol or other CNS depressants as well as in individuals with depression / suicide history, using muscle relaxants, antidepressants, CNS- depressants, tranquilizers and sedatives, should be strictly avoided.

Patients should avoid analgesics like pentazocine, nalbuphine, butorphanol and buprenorphine. Users of Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) should avoid Darvocet
